PDP alleges kidnap attempt by DSS on A’Ibom Governor

By Ahmed Abubakar

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that the Department of State Services (DSS) yesterday attempted to kidnap Governor of Akwa Ibom State Udom Emmanuel after a thorough search in the governors official Government House.

The PDP also claimed that they have strong hint that the operatives were on a mission of directive to detain the governor.

PDP acting national Chairman Prince Uche Secondus who disclosed this yesterday during the function of submission of interest nd nomination form by Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa said the DSS had planned a “civilian coup d’etat.”

According to Secondus, the party is downcast that the DSS has resorted to clamping down on the opposition and conniving with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to forcefully take over Akwa Ibom, Abia, Delta, Taraba and Rivers States where PDP won in the last general elections.

“We want to alert this nation that it is part of the strategy of the APC and its administration to forcefully take Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Abia and Taraba States by force because they are not satisfied with taking over the federal government they want to now take over all the states controlled by the PDP.

“This nation belongs to us all, both PDP and APC. A situation where DSS consistently assaulted states controlled by the PDP, we want the international community to be aware of the situation. Is this how the PDP ruled during its days?

“Let it be on record that we said enough is enough. Our South-south publicity secretary will be updating the party on further developments. It will get to a stage where we will invite the international community to hear our cry. We are stating here that we will not tolerate any act of intimation and harassment by the operatives of the DSS,” the PDP said.
